Arbor Acres® South Africa recently hosted a roadshow to honor outstanding poultry producers with the prestigious Arbor Acres Achievers Breeder and Broiler Club awards. As the exclusive Arbor Acres distributor in South Africa, Swaziland, and Lesotho since 2006, the company remains committed to supplying the region with top-performing poultry flocks to enhance food security in local markets.
Recognizing Excellence in Poultry Production
The Arbor Acres Achievers Breeder Club acknowledges producers who achieve a breeder performance of 140 or more chicks per hen housed at 60 weeks of age. Meanwhile, the Arbor Acres Achievers Broiler Club recognizes those achieving a European Product Efficiency Factor (EPEF) of 400 or higher with their broiler flocks.
Award-Winning Producers
Supreme Poultry
The first roadshow event took place on November 19 in Potchefstroom, celebrating Supreme Poultry, a leading South African poultry producer and division of Country Bird Holdings (CBH). Supreme Poultry’s top breeder flock produced 161.78 chicks per hen housed at 60 weeks, earning Gold membership in the Achievers Breeder Club. Their top broiler flock attained an EPEF of 443.78, securing Silver membership in the Achievers Broiler Club.
Chubby Chick
Later that day, the Arbor Acres South Africa team visited Chubby Chick, a well-respected poultry supplier known for quality and freshness. Owner Deon Fourie attended the event alongside farm managers. Chubby Chick’s top breeder flock achieved 161.35 chicks per hen housed at 60 weeks, while its best broiler flock reached an impressive EPEF of 498.34, earning the company Gold membership in both the Breeder and Broiler Clubs.
Grain Field Chickens
On November 21, Arbor Acres South Africa visited Grain Field Chickens in Reitz, Free State, to celebrate their entry into the Arbor Acres Achievers Broiler Club Gold tier. Their top-performing broiler flock achieved an EPEF of 471.78, reinforcing their reputation as a premier poultry producer.
Henwil Chickens
Henwil Chickens, based in Lichtenburg, North-West, hosted an awards ceremony on November 28, attended by Arno van der Nat and Henwil Chickens’ broiler farmers. The company achieved an outstanding EPEF of 469.32, earning Gold membership in the Arbor Acres Achievers Broiler Club.
Technical Officer Janus Pretorius praised the breed, stating, “The Arbor Acres broiler consistently demonstrates superior feed conversion, livability, and EPEF performance across our sites.”
JR Poultry
JR Poultry, a poultry processor based in Zeerust, North-West Province, recognized its top-performing producers at their year-end function on November 29. The highest-performing flock achieved an EPEF of 466.58, securing Gold membership in the Arbor Acres Achievers Broiler Club.
Lufafa Hatchery
Lufafa Hatchery, located in the Letaba district, joined the Arbor Acres Achievers Breeder Club Silver tier in January after achieving 159.7 chicks per hen housed.
Ndiza Poultry
Ndiza Poultry, based in Dargle, KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, achieved Gold membership in the Achievers Breeder Club in January with a result of 160.4 chicks per hen housed.
CC Chickens Ltd
On January 13, Arno van der Nat visited CC Chickens (Pty) Ltd in Kroonstad, Free State, to present their Achievers Broiler Club Gold certificate. Their exceptional EPEF of 451.13 secured their place among the top-performing poultry producers.
Managing Director Albie Esterhuizen stated, “It was an honor to recognize our farmers’ achievements. Arbor Acres continues to deliver outstanding results, and we appreciate the support from the Arbor Acres South Africa team in optimizing flock performance.”
Elgin Free Range Chickens
The final stop on the roadshow was Elgin Free Range Chickens, a renowned free-range poultry producer. Their best flock achieved an exceptional 170.5 chicks per hen housed, earning them Gold membership in the Arbor Acres Achievers Breeder Club.
